~ Q & A’s ~
~ How many hours coverage can we have?
Half days coverage is up to 6 hours but for local, intimate weddings I can cover up to 4 hours. I do love those little weddings in the bush with a handful of guests so contact me with your thoughts on coverage. We can have a chat to work out something to suits your needs.
~ What do we receive?
Heaps of stuff! All collections come with your portraits, professionally colour corrected and retouched, provided to you digitally in a beautiful presentation box. I work with a professional lab in Melbourne who print your wall art on museum-grade fine art paper and your frame is assembled by hand locally. Organic Stone Prints are lovingly handmade in Melbourne and my beautiful flush mounted fine art albums are also handmade in Australia. Each piece I produce is of the highest professional standard, has a low carbon footprint and is unique to every couple. I’m all about local and I won’t compromise on quality. All my suppliers are from Australia, with 99% of them from Victoria.
The digital files are high resolution and are not watermarked so you can use them freely for personal printing and enlarging.
I’m passionate about people printing their wedding photographs, and I don’t believe a bunch of digital files is a photography collection, so my Collections are about the art of printing. My most popular Collections come with beautiful Fine Art Books, professionally designed and printed. All my work is finished on beautiful museum-grade 100% cotton photographic rag, which is a high quality fine art paper that will last for generations. Prints are what photography is all about!
~ Do you shoot engagement sessions & elopements?
OH MY GOSH – YES! I’ve started to get a lot of bookings for surprise weddings too. Not ones where the couple don’t know they are getting married (??) – someone actually asked me if that was what surprise weddings are. I kid you not! So yes, contact me for a chat about what you’re planning. I’m happy to be apart of the surprise, the elopement or whatever it is you are planning.
~ Do you believe same-sex couples should marry?
As an Irish ex-pat I am immensely proud of the fact that Ireland voted to legalise same-sex marriage in 2015. As an adopted Aussie I am immensely proud that the Australian people voiced their opinion in 2017 for Australia to follow suit. Lets put that terrible “postal vote” behind us and start planning some epic weddings!
~ Are you qualified? Are you insured and do you have backup equipment?
Yes, yes and yes indeed ~ I hold a Bachelor of Photography. I have backup gear, I back up your images at all stages of my workflow and I hold public liability insurance.
~ Posing! We’re not so keen. How do we work around that?
I get that. Posing is a tough gig. However, I’m into documenting people, especially those in love. There are details and moments that help define a wedding and my style of photography is relaxed, fun and unobtrusive. I do like to get to know my couples beforehand if that’s possible so it’s easy on the day. It’s less about me taking photos of you and more about me hanging around with you and capturing you guys in the moment. When the day comes I will chat with you, have a laugh with you and make you feel comfortable and I will direct you a little when needed so you’re not standing there feeling awkward. Mostly though, I’m about documenting the day so we can put together a true story of your wedding. Don’t worry, it’s all good fun and we’ll get some beautiful photographs that truly reflect who you are.
~ Can you help us with timelines and planning? Like, what’s the best time for our ceremony if it’s outdoors and how long should we leave for the portrait session?
Generally, the best time for an outdoor ceremony is 2-3 hours before sunset. Planning for around this time ensures the sunlight falls more evenly on the skin and there are no harsh shadows. This lighting is consistent for both of you because you don’t want one person in the light and the other in shadow.
I like to have an hour for your portrait session if you have a bridal party. If you guys are flying solo then about 30-45 minutes is loads of time to create some magic. The best way to plan your portrait session time is to find out when sunset is for your date, and then count backwards. About an hour & a half before sunset is the best time. I understand sometimes that’s not always possible to coordinate with guests and venue/event managers etc so we will do what we can do in the designated time-slot and then later, closer to sunset, we can pop out of your reception for 15 minutes to catch that golden light. We don’t even need to go far, literally outside the venue because after all, it’s about moments and not mountains.
~ How soon after the wedding can we have our photos?
Your complete story will be on your doorstep within 6 weeks of the wedding. Every single portrait is touched and great care is taken with each one so the wait will be worth it. Promise! Albums and prints take a little longer. I’ll keep you posted.
~ We’re getting married in the countryside ~ do you charge extra?
What?!? No way ….I love countryside ~ I live countryside! I would go so far as to say, I specialize in country weddings. If the location is around 1-2 hours drive from Daylesford or the Macedon Ranges area then there is no additional travel fee. More than 2 hours away may incur a modest fee. Or you could send me home with loads of cake ….let’s chat and work something out. If you’re getting married in the Macedon Ranges, Daylesford or anywhere around the Hepburn Shire – Spa country – you are in for a treat. I love living out here and I’m always finding new and hidden places to bring my couples. The landscape is amazing and if you work with all local vendors you won’t regret it. There is such talent in Daylesford and the Ranges.
~ Do you bring a second photographer?
I love your thinking. My most popular Collections have a second professional photographer included so every angle is covered throughout the day. My smaller, more intimate Collections, do not have a second photographer but one can be booked for a fee. If you’re having a very large wedding, with guest numbers over 100, then a second photographer is recommended to ensure nothing is missed. Contact me for a quote.
~ Can we meet with you?
Let’s do this! I love to meet with my couples for a chat. In fact ….I feel like I need to meet with you because I really want to hear all about you, how you met and your plans for your wedding day. We also need to make sure we gel because I’m going to be with you for the most intimate day of your life and a good connection between us means you can relax and trust me to do the best for you on the day. I can show you some Fine Art Prints so you can see the quality of the paper, a stone print for you to swoon over and a fine art book so you can see how beautiful a story is when printed using quality handmade products. If meeting up is not possible because you are a million miles away from me, then we can Skype/Messenger or even just have a good old fashioned chat on the phone. Old Skool.
I’ve got a little something for everyone. I have three Collections and my Collections can include:
Pre-wedding meeting/ consultation ~ as much or as little contact you want.
A second professional photographer
High resolution print ready image files
Portraits printed 5×7” on beautiful museum-grade fine art paper
A custom, handmade Fine Art Book
Please contact me for a detailed pricing and availability.
