A Day, Held
‘A Day, Held’ is a full-day photographic commission, created slowly and with intention.
Rather than directing or staging, I observe, allowing the day to unfold as it naturally would. The work is quiet, unobtrusive and grounded in presence. What is photographed is not a list of moments, but the feeling of time passing.
This offering is designed for those who value memory, place and restraint, and who are drawn to work that is lived with rather than consumed.
The Commission
The approach is documentary but considered. Nothing is staged or directed. I work unobtrusively, allowing the day to unfold naturally.
What is created is not a collection of moments, but a cohesive visual narrative, shaped by tone, pacing and atmosphere.
Each commission is treated as an individual, carefully considered experience, designed around the life, story, and moments being captured. Full-day commissions include a handcrafted fine art book, a digital edition, and a private online archive, ensuring every element meets the highest standard of artistry and care. All commissions are fully inclusive and non-negotiable, with the focus on delivering a timeless, fine art photographic record of your life.
The Fine Art Book
Every ‘A Day, Held’ commission concludes with a fine art book, a physical artefact that holds the work as a complete visual narrative.
The book is authored and sequenced by me. Image selection, pacing and layout are intentional, shaped by how the day unfolded rather than by individual moments. There is no client input into the edit or design; the work is presented as a finished piece.
Printed on archival paper and bound with restraint, the book is not an album. It is a considered body of work, designed to be returned to over time.
The fine art book is included in every commission and cannot be removed or substituted. It forms the heart of the project.
